Guro Joe Marana has been teaching Filipino Martial Arts in Claremont since 2004, but officially founded Inland Empire Filipino Martial Arts at the end of 2009, with the intention of propagating the systems of Sayoc Kali, Atienza Kali and Inosanto Blend (Inosanto-Lacoste Kali) Filipino Martial Arts to Claremont and the surrounding Inland Empire communities. He started formal martial arts training in 1992 and soon earned his black belt in Taekwon-Do. Since then he has trained in Western Boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Tien Shan Pai Kung Fu, San Miguel Eskrima and earned rank in Doce Pares Eskrima (Grandmaster Cacoy Canete System), Sayoc Kali, Atienza Kali and The Filipino Martial Arts under Guro Inosanto.
Guro John Rellias brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Inland Empire Filipino Martial Arts. A black belt since 1984, he now holds a 5th degree in Shotokan Karate, Apprentice Level rank in Sayoc Kali and blue belts in Jeet Kune Do and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In addition, Guro John is a well established Karate instructor, coach and competitor and is versed in multiple firearm platforms. He has trained with Guro Joe since the beginning of IEFMA and continues now as a student and colleague.
