Welcome to Inland Empire Filipino Martial Arts!

Inland Empire Filipino Martial Arts (IEFMA) provides training in Sayoc Kali, Atienza Kali and Lacoste-Inosanto Filipino Martial Arts in Southern California’s Inland Empire.  IEFMA provides instruction in edged, impact and flexible weaponry as well as their unarmed compliments.  Commonly known as Kali, Eskrima or Arnis the Filipino Martial Arts encompass combative strategies and tactics born from centuries of combat, by Filipinos and Filipino Americans.  IEFMA is a Sayoc LA training group, recognized by the Sayoc Global organization and strives to continue developing and producing the capable individuals that Sayoc LA has fostered throughout Los Angeles and Southern California.

Guro Joe Marana began his training in the Filipino Martial Arts in 1998, and has since then received instructorship in Sayoc Kali under Pamana Tuhon Christopher Sayoc, Sr., Atienza Kali under Tuhon Carl Atienza and the Atienza brothers, and The Filipino Martial Arts under Guro Dan Inosanto.  Coming up in Southern California under Guro Travis Downing and Guro Joey Pena, and continuing his training at the Inosanto Academy of Martial Arts in Marina del Rey, Guro Joe Marana has now taken his practice and instruction back home to the Inland Empire to contribute to the growth and perpetuation of these martial arts.

Our Mission

The mission of Inland Empire Filipino Martial Arts (IEFMA) is to educate members of the Claremont and surrounding Inland Empire communities in the Filipino Martial Arts, emphasizing edged and impact weaponry. As a Sayoc LA training group, our primary sources of material come from Sayoc Kali, Atienza Kali and the Filipino Martial Arts as taught by Guro Dan Inosanto.

IEFMA seeks to instill and promote an awareness of the Filipino Martial Arts, the martial history and culture as related to the Philippines, and the Filipino American experience in the United States of America. We credit and acknowledge our families, instructors, systems and organizations and pay tribute by contributing to our collective growth.
